According to the beliefs of the Native American tribes of the Pacific Northwest, Raven placed the sun, moon and stars in the sky so the People would have light in their dark world. Artist Joyce Ravenwood beautifully translated this story into wearable art. This sterling silver pendant features a "true to life" Raven on one side holding a fire agate, "the sun", in his mouth. On the other side is the Northwest Native American art style of Raven holding a 14 karat gold "sun" in his mouth. The pendant measures 3 1/2" x 2 3/8" overall including the bale and contains a total of 64 grams of solid sterling silver. The Mexican Fire Opal in Ravens mouth measures 3mm and the piece is accented with 14 karat gold. This is a stunning piece and definitely captures the esscence of the Legend of Raven.

Each of Joyce Ravenwood's creations is a unique, one of a kind piece of wearable art and each one is crafted by hand at her jeweler's bench. She lets each of the elements that she works with dictate her design decisions so that the natural beauty of each piece as well as the heart of the artist shines through the completed piece.
